Fire
Reform
If you own, manage or have control, or part control over a non domestic property, or common parts in domestic or multi occupied buildings you must implement the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and specifically to undertake a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment. The legal responsibility to ensure that adequate fire safety precautions are provided in workplaces and common areas now falls upon employers and persons who have control of those premises, and failure to do so is a criminal offence.
Fire Risk
Assessment
Where you have a legal obligation to carry out a fire risk assessment, it is important to make sure not only that it is completed,
recorded and kept up to date, but is also done properly by a suitable person who has sufficient training, knowledge and
experience for the premises involved.
One of the
most important considerations is selecting a suitable person
to carry out the assessment. The consequences of choosing an
unsuitable person who is not competent to carry out the
assessment do not
bear thinking about.
